Q1 I can't scratch.

Vinyl mode may be turned off.
If you spin the top of the jog wheel when Vinyl mode is off, the playback speed will be affected (Pitch Bend feature).

Q2 I don't like the cut of the crossfader. Can I adjust it?

Yes.
The way to do this depends on the DJ application you're using.

■rekordbox for Mac/Windows
You can adjust crossfader curve and cut lag in rekordbox [Preferences] > [Controller] > [Mixer].
Turn the curve to the left, the curve gradually rises.
Turn the curve to the right, the curve sharply rises.
For adjusting crossfader cut lag, see the Instruction Manual > "rekordbox for Mac/Windows" > "Changing the settings in rekordbox for Mac/Windows".

■Serato DJ Lite
You can adjust crossfader curve in Serato DJ Lite [Setup]> [Mixer] tab.
For details, refer to the Instruction Manual > "Serato DJ Lite" > "Setting the crossfader curve".

Crossfader curve affects the way the sound changes when you slide the crossfader. You can adjust it to suit your preference when scratching or mixing. Cut lag is the length of the silent zone at both ends of the crossfader.

Q3 Fader Start doesn't work.

Cues may not be set.
The Fader Start feature starts playback from the set cue point. So, you need to set a cue point in advance.

Q4 When I change the BPM setting for the SAMPLER in rekordbox for Mac/Windows, the actual tempo (playback speed) doesn't change.

You can only change the tempo of the [LOOP] sampler slot.
You can't change the tempo of the [Oneshot] sampler slot.

Q5 When MASTER TEMPO or Key Lock is turned on, the sound sometimes distorts.

When MASTER TEMPO or Key Lock is turned on, the sound quality changes due to the sound processing that keeps the key constant. This change in sound quality is part of the unit's specification.

Q6 Backspin continues even after the jog wheel stops when I'm using rekordbox.

When [Long] is selected for the backspin length setting, the backspin effect continues even after the jog wheel stops. Change the setting if you don't like it.

[rekordbox for Mac/Windows]
You can change it at [Preferences] > [Controller] > [Back Spin Length].

■rekordbox for iOS/Android
You can change it in [Settings] > [DDJ-FLX4 settings] > [BACK SPIN LENGTH].

■Serato DJ Lite
You can change it in Utilities mode.

Q7 When I slide the crossfader, the sound doesn’t change. Even if I slide the crossfader all the way to the left/right, I can hear the sound from the other deck when I'm using rekordbox for Mac/Windows.

Crossfader assign may not be set the way you want the crossfader to work.
In the general setting, channels [1] and [3] should be set to the left side of the crossfader and channels [2] and [4] should be set to the right.
*Crossfader assign sets the channel output to either the left or right side of the crossfader. If you don't want to use the crossfader, you can change the setting to disable it.

Q8 Why are effects sometimes canceled unexpectedly while I'm using rekordbox for Mac/Windows?

Release FX may be running. When you use Release FX, all Beat FX that are currently turned on will be released.

Q9 I can't turn on the Beat FX on/off button on the rekordbox for Mac/Windows screen using a mouse. Why not?

When the DDJ-FLX4 is connected to a PC/Mac and the [BEAT FX CH SELECT switch] is set to [1], the far-left button [FX2-1] on Beat FX unit 2 can't be turned on.
Also, when the [BEAT FX CH SELECT switch] is set to [2], the far-left button [FX1-1] on Beat FX unit 1 can't be turned on.

Q10 I can't turn on Release FX when using rekordbox for Mac/Windows. Why not?

Release FX can't be turned on while Smart CFX is turned on.
Turn off Smart CFX, then turn on Release FX.

Q11 When I'm using rekordbox for Mac/Windows with the unit, certain effects turn off after I turn on Smart CFX. Why?

After turning on the Smart CFX, switching channels with the BEAT FX CH SELECT switch may cause certain effects to switch off. (see *1)
Turn off Smart CFX, then turn on Smart CFX again.

*1 Examples of when an effect is no longer applied
- Phantom Echo is being applied and the Echo effect stopped working.
- Reflect Echo is being applied and the reverse playback sound was lost.
- Mobius Echo is being applied and the oscillator sound was lost.
- Vaporize is being applied and the reverberation effect is no longer applied.
- Noise Chopper is being applied and the sound is no longer cut off.
- Cyber Jet is being applied and the Delay effect is no longer applied.
- Cyber Pitch is being applied and the pitch stopped changing.
- Twister is being applied and the reverberation effect stopped working.
