- Q1 Sound is affected by distortion or clipping. Why?

If the volume level is too high, the sound may be affected by distortion or clipping.
Play a track and follow these steps:1. Check the channel level indicator on the DJM-S5.
Adjust the level with the [TRIM] knob so the channel level indicator lights up around [0] dB (so the red doesn't light up) at the loudest part of the track.
2. Check the master level indicator on the DJM-S5.
With the channel fader at the top, adjust the level with the [MASTER LEVEL] knob so the master level indicator lights up around [0] dB (so the red doesn't light up) at the loudest part of the track.If sound skipping, sound cutting, or noise occurs, see [Troubleshooting - rekordbox]> "Sound skips, cuts, or is affected by noise. Net Number : 21 - Q2 Sound is extremely distorted or the channel level meter stays at the maximum. Why?

The LINE/PHONO switch(es) may be incorrectly set.
To connect the following types of devices to the LINE/PHONO input terminals on the rear panel of the unit, select [LINE] with the relevant LINE/PHONO switch:- CDJ
- Audio interface
- Turntable with line output (output level equivalent to that of a CDJ)
Net Number : 22 - Q3 When I move the crossfader to the side where a deck is playing, no sound is output. Why not?

The crossfader settings might not be set in the way you want the crossfader to work.
・Check the crossfader reverse setting.
Press the [SHIFT] button. If the [FX1/CUT1] button flashes, the operating direction of the crossfader is reversed. In this case, press the [FX1/CUT1] button while pressing the [SHIFT] button to turn off the crossfader reverse setting.For details, see [Switching the modes of FX/CUT buttons] in the Instruction Manual.

Net Number : 23 - Q4 I don't like the cut of the crossfader. Can I adjust it?

Yes.
To set a steeply rising crossfader curve, press the [FX3/CUT3] button while pressing the [SHIFT] button.
To set the default crossfader curve set in the Utility settings, press the [FX2/CUT2] button while pressing the [SHIFT] button.
To change the settings in the Utility settings, see [CROSSFADER CURVE] in [Settings] and [Utility settings] in the Instruction Manual.For information on adjusting cut lag, refer to the Instruction Manual > [PC/Mac setup] > [Set the range where sound won’t be output at both sides of the crossfader.].

*Crossfader curve affects the way the sound changes when you slide the crossfader. You can adjust it to suit your preference when scratching or mixing. Cut lag is the length of the silent zone at both ends of the crossfader.
Net Number : 24 - Q5 I can't hear the Sampler sound. Why not?

Serato DJ Pro sampler settings might not be set correctly.
Check the following:
(1) [A] is selected for [OUTPUT] in the upper right corner of the Sampler panel.
(2) Sampler Volume is set to an appropriate level.
(3) Sampler Mute is set to off.For details, see the Serato DJ Pro Manual [here].
Net Number : 25 - Q6 No effect is applied to the headphone sound. Why not?

Effects aren't applied to the headphones CUE sound. This is part of the unit's design and not a malfunction.
Turn the [MIX] knob to the master side to check how effects sound.Net Number : 26
