FAQ
- Q1 What features can I use when the unit is connected to the PRO DJ LINK network?
-
A1
When the unit is connected to the PRO DJ LINK network, the following features are available on the DJM-V10:
■ QUANTIZE
When you're playing a track that's been analyzed by rekordbox, the unit adds BEAT FX by automatically
synching it with the beat. This happens even if you're out of time with the beat when you use the [ON/OFF] button of [BEAT FX] or the [X-PAD] on the touch display.■ LINK MONITOR
You can use your headphones to monitor tracks stored in rekordbox on the connected PC/Mac, without loading them to the DJ players.■ STATUS INFORMATION
On-air information is displayed on the connected DJ players. If the DJ player supports the ON AIR DISPLAY feature, you can visually grasp the on-air information.■ LAN-HID CONNECTION
By connecting the PC/Mac and DJM-V10 with a single USB cable, you can control a DJ application from up to 6 DJ players.
Note: This is only available when you use a supported DJ application and players.Net Number : 14 - Q2 Is the sound output from the REC OUT terminals the same as that from the MASTER output terminals?
-
A2
Yes, the output is the same.
However, the volume level for REC OUT can't be adjusted.Net Number : 15 - Q3 Does the DJM-V10 support the Fader Start feature?
-
A3
The DJM-V10 does not support the Fader Start feature.
Net Number : 16 - Q4 How do I set the fader curve?
-
A4
There are buttons for setting the fader curves. You'll find these above the touch display.
Net Number : 17 - Q5 Tell me how to use the MULTI I/O section.
-
A5
You can send the sound to an external FX unit or a mobile device running an FX application. You can also change the route of the returned sound.
■ When selecting [USB] or [1/4" JACK]
When [1/4" JACK] is selected, audio signals are input/output from the MULTI I/O terminals on the rear panel in the same way as other DJ mixers.
When [USB] is selected, audio signals are input/output from the USB port to the upper right of the touch display. This allows you to use FX applications supporting Inter App Audio on iOS devices, such as RMX-1000 for iPad.■ When selecting [INSERT] or [CH2/CH5]
If [INSERT] is selected, the audio of the selected channel is completely switched to the post-effect sound from the external FX unit. For example, if [1] is selected for the [CH SELECT] switch, the sound from the device connected to channel 1 will be output to the external FX unit, and the audio returned from the FX unit will be input to channel 1.If [CH2/CH5] is selected, the sound of the selected channel is output to the external FX unit, and the audio returned from the external FX unit is input to channel 2 or channel 5. For example, if the [CH SELECT] switch selects [1] and the channel 2 input selector switch selects [MULTI I/O], the sound from the device connected to channel 1 will be output to the external FX unit, and the sound returned from the external FX unit will be input to channel 2.
Since the original sound of the device connected to channel 1 is input to channel 1, you can adjust the balance between the original sound and the post-effect sound by using the channel 1 and channel 2 faders. For details, see the block diagram in the specifications section of the Instruction Manual.
You can read the Instruction Manual [here].Net Number : 18 - Q6 What's the difference between [MULTI I/O] and [EXT1][EXT2]? Which should I connect to?
-
A6
Select [MULTI I/O] or [EXT1][EXT2] according to the FX unit you want to connect.
■ [MULTI I/O]
Use this when you want to apply external FX to the pre-fader audio.
This is recommended when using an external FX unit that changes the original sound, such as the RMX-1000 or an isolator or filter.
Note: You can only use FX applications on iOS devices by connecting to [MULTI I/O].■ [EXT1][EXT2]
Use this if you want to hear FX tail when the fader is set at the bottom when you apply echoes with an external FX unit.
We recommend this when you use reverberant FX units such as delays or reverbs.Select the best option according to the channel you want to use and the connections on your devices.
Net Number : 19 - Q7 What is COMP?
-
A7
This is a compressor feature that can be easily applied with one knob.
The compressor raises low-volume sounds and compresses the dynamic range to increase the loudness.
Using this, you can naturally mix sounds that can otherwise be overpowered by loud sounds, without excessively increasing the volume level.
This is useful when mixing an instrument sound such as a synthesizer, or when mixing an old recording directly with a sound source that's mastered with a high level of loudness.Net Number : 20 - Q8 How can I use the COMP?
-
A8
Use this function to increase loudness.
Turn the [COMP] knob to adjust the loudness.
Turn it all the way to the left to turn it off, and turn it all the way to the right for maximum effect.
On the channel with the sound you want to raise the loudness of, first turn the [TRIM] knob back to its normal position, then turn the [COMP] knob up to the center position.
From that point, turn the [COMP] knob to adjust loudness, or the [TRIM] knob to adjust volume.Note:
*The makeup gain is added automatically, so there's no need to increase [TRIM] unnecessarily.
* The [TRIM] knob is linked to the limiting level, so you can adjust it to your preferred level for mixing.
* If the sound is below the set threshold, the level is simply raised. But if the [COMP] knob is turned and the threshold is reached, compression will be applied. If the level is too high at this stage, turn down the [TRIM] knob.
* When compression is applied, unnoticeable sounds may become noticeable, effectively changing the frequency balance. If this happens, turn down the [COMP] knob or adjust the [EQ].
* Ducking may occur depending on the sound source, due to the characteristics of the compression.
* Please note that this feature may have an adverse effect on the sound when used on a sound source that's already loud.Net Number : 21 - Q9 Can I play a MIDI sequencer in sync with this unit?
-
A9
Yes.
For details, see [Controlling an external MIDI sequencer] in the [USB/MIDI] section of the Instruction Manual.
The Instruction Manual is available [here].Net Number : 22 - Q10 What is PRE EQ?
-
A10
When you turn on [PRE EQ], you can monitor the sound before EQ and FILTER effects are applied.
Note: This function doesn't work for headphones connected to the HEADPHONES B output. The sound for HEADPHONES B is output after the EQ or FILTER is applied at all times.Net Number : 23 - Q11 What is MY SETTINGS?
-
A11
The [UTILITY] settings, [BEAT FX] parameters, and [FADER CURVE SETTING] can be saved as [MY SETTINGS].
If you save [MY SETTINGS] to a storage device (USB drive, etc.), you can load them to the unit immediately during a DJ handover. For details, see [[UTILITY]/[MY SETTINGS] screens] in the [Settings] section of the Instruction Manual.
You can read the Instruction Manual [here].Net Number : 24 - Q12 What is OWNER SETTING?
-
A12
You can save the [UTILITY] settings and [MY SETTINGS] as the [OWNER SETTING] for this unit.
For example, even after the settings have been changed by multiple users at an event, you can load the saved [OWNER SETTING] and the unit's settings will immediately revert to the saved settings. For details, see [OWNER SETTING] in [UTILITY settings] in the Instruction Manual.
You can read the Instruction Manual [here].Net Number : 25 - Q13 Are MIDI connections and signal transmission available?
