FAQ
- Q1 The tempo display fluctuates when slaved, is it normal ?
-
A1
Yes, this is not an issue. The SQUID uses the clock pulses received to calculate the tempo, however, the clock pulses always have a little bit of jitter (fluctuation) between each other.
These fluctuations make the tempo display fluctuate, but it doesn't mean that the devices are getting out of sync.
And this cannot be heard by a human hear.Net Number : 21 - Q2 The device connected to the CV/GATE terminal does not produce notes with correct pitch.
-
A2
Three main factors can cause this and there are three possible countermeasures.
1.There are two CV standards: V/OCT and Hz/V.
Hz/V: CV output represents an octave of pitch by doubling voltage
V/OCT: 1V represents one octave
Due to the differences in the range or changes in pitches for CV voltages, you can't play at the right pitch if the CV setting of the connected instruments are different.
Please check the settings in the GLOBAL menu CV Settings category to match the specifications of the CV-connected devices.
2. In the V/OCT method, you can set the Reference Note when the CV voltage is 0 V.
Edit [CV 1 Ref. Note] or [CV2 Ref. Note] settings of CV Settings category in the GLOBAL menu according to the specifications of the CV-connected devices.
Reference Note is set in semitones.
To fine-tune the pitch in cent, use the Fine Tune on the CV-connected equipment.
You cannot change Reference Note in the Hz/V method. You'll need to change fine-tune the pitch on the CV-connected equipment.
3. Because CV inputs and outputs analog signals, it is easily influenced by noise due to power supply or cables, etc. and the pitch may go slightly out of tune. However, this is not a failure but a phenomenon peculiar to analog signals.
Some analog synthesizers may take some time to stabilize the pitch, so please make sure that the pitch is stable enough to start performance when you use the unit connected with an analog synthesizer.Net Number : 22 - Q3 The notes played are different from the ones I've set to each pad (step).
-
A3
Two main factors can cause this and there are two possible countermeasures.
1. If the scales of the melodic control function are set aside from [CHROMA], the pitches set to each pad (step) are automatically corrected based on the scales set. Please set the scale to [CHROMA].
2. If the performance information using the Transpose mode is recorded in the sequence, the pitch set to each pad (step) is adjusted based on the performance information. Please delete the performance information with the Transpose mode recorded in the sequence.Net Number : 26 - Q4 I set the CV SLIDE, but nothing happened.
-
A4
The effects of the CV SLIDE are available only with CV output.
MIDI Note is produced in semi-tones, so it does not respond to continuous pitch changes like the analog signals.
If you use the CV SLIDE, please connect the CV output from this unit to an analog synthesizer with CV input, and select the track output destination from [CV/GATE1] or [CV/GATE2].Net Number : 34 - Q5 I pressed the stop button, but the sound of the connected device won't stop.
