FAQ
- Q1 The volume suddenly drops sometimes. Why does this happen?
-
A1
Talkover might be turned on.
When it’s on, this feature automatically reduces the volume when the microphone picks up the sound from the speakers. Try to use the microphone as far away from the speakers as possible.
This issue may also be caused by static electricity etc.
If you don't need to use Talkover, turn it off via the [MIC TALKOVER] setting in the Utility settings. For details, see the Instruction Manual > [Settings] > [Changing the settings] > [Utility settings] > [MIC TALKOVER].
You can read the Instruction Manual [here].
Net Number : 32 - Q2 Sound is affected by distortion or clipping. Why?
-
A2
If the volume level is too high, the sound may be affected by distortion or clipping.
Play a track and follow these steps:1. Check the channel level indicator on the DJM-S7.
Adjust the level with the [TRIM] knob so the channel level indicator lights up around [0] dB (so the red doesn't light up) at the loudest part of the track.
2. Check the master level indicator on the DJM-S7.
With the channel fader at the top, adjust the level with the [MASTER LEVEL] knob so the master level indicator lights up around [0] dB (so the red doesn't light up) at the loudest part of the track. If the distortion and sound clipping doesn’t improve, the output level might exceed the allowed input level of the connected speakers or amplifier.
In this case, you'll need to lower the output level using [MASTER ATT.] in the Utility settings.
For details, see [Settings] > [Utility settings] in the Instruction Manual. If sound skipping, sound cutting, or noise occurs, see [Troubleshooting - rekordbox]> "Sound skips, cuts, or is affected by noise. Why is this happening?".
You can read the Instruction Manual [here].
Net Number : 33 - Q3 Sound is extremely distorted or the channel level meter stays at the maximum.
-
A3
This might occur in the following cases.
・ A line level output turntable (output level equivalent to that of CDJs) is connected to [PHONO].
・ An audio interface is connected to [PHONO].
・ A CDJ is connected to [PHONO].In such cases, switch to [LINE].
Net Number : 34 - Q4 The power turns off unexpectedly.
-
A4
The auto standby feature may be running.
For details, see [Settings] > [Utility settings] > [AUTO STANDBY] in the Instruction Manual.
The Instruction Manual is available [here].Net Number : 35 - Q5 When I move the crossfader to the side where a deck is playing, no sound is output. Why not?
-
A5
The crossfader settings may not be set in the way you want the crossfader to work.
・Check the crossfader reverse setting.
If the [REVERSE] switch on the front of the DJM-S7 is set to [ON], the operating direction of the crossfader is reversed. In this case, set the switch to [OFF].You can read the Instruction Manual [here].
Net Number : 36 - Q6 The measured tempo (BPM) value differs from that on the CDJ or DJ application.
-
A6
The values may differ slightly due to different methods used for measuring the BPM. This is not a malfunction.
Net Number : 37 - Q7 I don't like the cut of the crossfader. Can I adjust it?
-
A7
Yes. You can adjust the crossfader curve in the dedicated Setting Utility.
For details, see the Instruction Manual > [PC/Mac setup] > [Setting Utility] >[Changing the settings].
You can read the Instruction Manual [here].
Net Number : 38 - Q8 I can't hear the Sampler sound. Why not?
-
A8
■rekordbox
The output level of the sampler sound in rekordbox (Performance mode) might be weak.
Select [A] for [OUTPUT] in the lower left corner of the sampler deck.
Set the [GAIN] to 12 o'clock in the center of the sampler deck.
Check the [SAMPLER VOLUME] knob on the DJM-S7 is not set to -∞.For details, see the rekordbox Instruction Manual [here].

Net Number : 39 - Q9 No effect is applied to the headphone sound.
-
A9
The following FX aren't applied to the headphone sound. This is part of the unit's specifications and not a malfunction.
■ BEAT FX
ECHO, DUCKING ECHO, ECHO OUT, SPIRAL, DELAY, REVERBFor example, if you apply an effect to the channel 1 sound, the effect won't be applied even if you monitor the channel 1 sound with your headphones.
You can check the sound of BEAT FX by monitoring the MASTER.Net Number : 40 - Q10 I can't establish a Bluetooth connection. Why not?
-
A10
The problem may be one of the followings:
1.The Bluetooth function on the Bluetooth device is not turned on.
-> Turn on the Bluetooth function on the device.2. The unit and the Bluetooth device are unpaired.
-> You need to pair the unit and Bluetooth device.
Press and hold the BLUETOOTH button for 2 seconds or longer to enter the pairing mode. At this time, the LED repeats blinking twice.
In this condition, perform pairing on the Bluetooth device.
For details, see the Instruction Manual > [Pairing with a Bluetooth device].You can read the Instruction Manual [here].
3. The unit is connected to the last connected device.
-> If you press the BLUETOOTH button, the unit is automatically connected to the last connected device.
If you use other Bluetooth devices, you'll need to pair them anew.4. The surrounding environment affects the connection.
-> Check that there are no devices (microwave ovens, wireless devices, etc.) that generate electromagnetic waves in 2.4 GHz band or an obstacle that blocks radio waves.
Move this unit closer to the Bluetooth device within 10 m.Net Number : 41 - Q11 I previously connected a device to the unit via Bluetooth, but now I can't connect it again. How do I reconnect?
-
A11
Follow the steps below:
1. Turn on the Bluetooth function on the Bluetooth device.
2. Follow the instructions for the Bluetooth device to make it 'forget' the unit, then pair them again.*You may need to refer to the instruction manual of the Bluetooth device.
Net Number : 42 - Q12 No sound is output when the unit and a device are connected via Bluetooth. Why not?
-
A12
Please check the followings:
1. Check if the paired device is playing music.
2. Check if the volume is not low on the unit nor the paired device.Net Number : 43 - Q13 The sound is interrupted or unwanted noise can be heard when the unit is connected to a device via Bluetooth. Why?
-
A13
The problem may be caused by one of the following:
1. An obstacle is blocking radio waves between the unit and the Bluetooth device.
-> If there are walls etc. between the unit and the device, communication will be affected. Move the unit and the connected Bluetooth device close to each other so the sound isn't interrupted.2. The load on the Bluetooth device is too heavy.
-> Close applications you're not using on the Bluetooth device to reduce load. If you use a Bluetooth device such as a smartphone, tablet, or laptop and it's running multiple applications, the load on the device will be heavy.3. Electromagnetic waves from a microwave oven etc.
-> Do not use equipment such as a microwave oven, wireless LAN router, or cordless phone near the unit. If they're used nearby, they may interfere with Bluetooth communication.4. The application you're using.
Depending on the app you're using, the sound may be cut off when you turn on/off the smartphone screen. If this happens, try another application or change the settings so the smartphone screen doesn't turn off.Net Number : 44
