- Q1 Can’t crossfade.

Is the CROSS FADER ASSIGN (A, THRU, B) selector switch properly set? Set the [CROSS FADER ASSIGN (A, THRU, B)] selector switches for the different channels properly.
Net Number : 10 - Q2 [SOUND COLOR FX] does not work.

Is the [COLOR] control set to an appropriate position? Turn the [COLOR] control clockwise or counterclockwise.

There are six possible causes.
1. Is the [CD/LINE, PHONO, USB*] selector switch set to the proper position?
Use the [CD/LINE, PHONO, USB*] selector switch to switch the channel's input source.
2. Are the connection cables properly connected? Connect the connection cables properly. For details, see "Connecting to input terminals" and/or "Connecting to output terminals" in the operating instructions.
3. Is [MASTER LEVEL] set to the proper position? Adjust [MASTER LEVEL] so that the master level indicator’s orange indicator lights at the peak level.
4. Is [TRIM] set to the proper position? Adjust [TRIM] so that the orange indicator on the channel level indicator lights at the peak level.
5. Are the terminals or plugs dirty? Wipe any dirt off terminals and plugs before connecting.
6. Is the masster output attenuator level set to [-6 dB], etc.? In utilities mode, switch the master output attenuator level. For details, see "Changing settings" in the operating instructions.Net Number : 12 - Q4 Even when I'm not speaking into the microphone (MIC), the talk over function is sometimes activated and the master sound volume is reduced.

The talk over function may be accidentally activated due to the influence of static electricity, etc. If you do not want to use the talk over function, turn it off.

There are two possible causes.
3. Is [MASTER LEVEL] set to the proper position? Adjust [MASTER LEVEL] so that the master level indicator’s orange indicator lights at the peak level.
2. Is [TRIM] set to the proper position? Adjust [TRIM] so that the orange indicator on the channel level indicator lights at the peak level.If sound is distorted even after the I/O level is adjusted, the maximum allowable input of the power amplifier might have been exceeded. Use "Master output attenuator level setting" in utilities mode to set the input to a suitable level. The level can be lowered to 50% at -6 dB and 70% at -3 dB. This setting is not interlocked with the master level indicator.
If you use Serato DJ, is Track Gain Adjust of the Serato DJ software set to an appropriate position? If not, set to the appropriate position.
Net Number : 14 - Q6 Even though the unit is connected to a computer, it is not recognized as an audio device.

1. Before using the computer, you must first install the dedicated driver software. For details, see "Installing the software" in the operating instructions.
2. The unit and the computer must be connected properly. For details, refer to "Connecting" in the operating instructions. If it is still not connected properly, quit the DJ application, disconnect and reconnect the USB cable, and then start the DJ software again.Note: The dedicated driver software of the unit is compatible with USB 2.0. Check that your computer, USB port and USB cable support USB 2.0.
Net Number : 15 - Q7 When the unit is connected to a computer (Windows), a message appears on the computer screen. What should I do?

You need to install the driver software before connecting the unit to the computer. For details, refer to "Installing the software" in the operating instructions.
After installing the driver software, when the unit is connected to a computer (Windows) for the first time or when it is connected to a different USB port on the computer, the message "Installing device driver software" may appear on the computer screen. Wait until the message "Your devices are ready to use." appears.
-In the middle of installation, the message "Connect to Windows Update to search for hardware? " message may appear. In that case, select "No, not now." and then click "Next" to continue installation.
-In the middle of installation, the message "Choose the installation method" may appear. In that case, select "Install software automatically (recommended)" and then click "Next" to continue installation.
-In the middle of installation, the "Windows Security" window may appear. In that case, select "Install this driver software." to continue installation.Net Number : 16 - Q8 The message "Log in with the computer administrator's account" appears and the driver software cannot be installed. (For Windows)

From the Control Panel, check that the account type in "User Account" is "Computer Administrator". You cannot install the device software if it is not "Computer Administrator".
Net Number : 17 - Q9 The message "You need to enter the name and password of the administrator." appears and the driver cannot be installed. (For Mac OS)

Even if your account type is not "Administrator", you can install the driver if you enter the name and password of the administrator.
Net Number : 18 - Q10 There is sound skipping, intermittent sound, distorted sound or noise.

Check the following items:
1. Does your computer meet the environment specifications for the DJ software?
⇒ Go to Installation/Connections - Serato DJ > What are the minimum system requirements for Serato DJ?.2. Are the sound volume adjustment knob and slider set appropriately?
⇒ Go to Troubleshooting > No sound is output from the headphones of from Master Out..3. Is the buffer size properly adjusted?
⇒ Go to Basic Functions > How can I adjust the buffer size?.4. Are the input levels of connected devices such as microphones appropriate?
⇒ Go to Troubleshooting > Sound from the microphone is distorted..5. Is the KEY LOCK function on?
⇒ When the KEY LOCK function is on, the sound quality changes because key control processing is performed to keep the key constant. This change in sound quality is normal for the product's specification. It is not a malfunction.6. Are you using a USB hub?
⇒ USB hubs cannot be used. Connect this unit to the USB terminal of the computer directly.7. Are other applications running?
⇒ Close all other applications including the screen saver and resident software. (When quitting various security software, etc. make sure to disconnect the Internet connection to ensure the safety of your computer.)8. Are the USB cables connected properly?
⇒ Use the included USB cable or a USB 2.0 cable to connect the computer and DDJ-SZ.9. Is your computer set to power saving mode?
⇒ Cancel the power saving mode of your computer.10. Does your computer have a wireless connection function or Bluetooth function?
⇒ Turn off the wireless connection or Bluetooth function.11. Are USB devices other than DDJ-SZ connected?
⇒ Remove external hard disks and the keyboard (for some models), etc. to check the status with only the built-in hard disk.12. If your computer has more than one USB terminal, check using a different USB terminal.

When Timecode is selected for Mixer Audio Output, the USB Output Level value does not change. It is a fixed value.

The computer recognizes the unit but the dedicated driver software is not installed correctly. In this status, it is possible to output MIDI signals from the unit to the computer but the I/O (USB sound card) audio functions are not available. If you wish to use audio I/O, install the included driver software. The indicator changes from flashing to steady light.
Net Number : 22 - Q13 The version of the Mac that I use is older than Mac OS 10.8 and sound I/O cannot be performed using the USB sound card (audio interface). The dedicated driver software has been installed correctly.

Is the [OFF, ON, TALK OVER] switch of the microphone set to [TALK OVER], and is a microphone that is on and connected to the unit placed near a speaker?
When the microphone picks up the speaker sound, the talk over function is activated to make the output sound smaller unexpectedly. Turn off the talk over function or the microphone, or use the microphone away from speakers.Net Number : 24 - Q15 The power does not turn on.

Is the power cord properly connected? Check if the power cord is inserted to AC IN on the back of the unit and then connect the power cord to the outlet.
Net Number : 57 - Q16 Sound is distorted when an analog player is connected to this unit’s [PHONO] terminals. Or, lighting of the channel level indicator does not change even when the [TRIM] control is turned.

There are two possible causes.
1. Have you connected an analog player with a built-in phono equalizer? Connect the analog player with built-in phono equalizer to the [CD/LINE] terminals. If the analog player with built-in phono equalizer has a PHONO/LINE selector switch, switch it to PHONO.
2. Is a USB sound card (audio interface) for a computer connected between the analog player and this unit? If the output of the audio interface for computers is line level, connect it to the [CD/LINE] terminals. If the analog player has a PHONO/LINE selector switch, switch it to PHONO.Net Number : 58 - Q17 This unit is not recognized after it has been connected to a computer.

Check the following items:
1. Is the driver software installed? To use this unit, you must install the dedicated driver software. For the installation procedure, check the operating instructions.2. Is your computer recognizing DDJ-SZ2?
On the About tab in [DDJ-SZ2 Setting Utility], check that the DDJ-SZ2 firmware version is displayed.
-Windows: Click the [Start] menu > [All Programs] > [Pioneer] > [DDJ_SZ2] > [DDJ-SZ2 Setting Utility].
-Mac OS: Click [Applications] > [Pioneer] > [DDJ-SZ2] > [DDJ-SZ2 Setting Utility].3. Are the USB cables connected properly?
⇒ Use the included USB cable or a USB 2.0 cable to connect the computer and DDJ-SZ2.4. Are you using a USB hub?
⇒ USB hubs cannot be used. Connect this unit to the USB terminal of a computer that can supply power.5. Are other applications running?
Close all other applications including the screen saver and resident software.
(When quitting various security software, etc. make sure to disconnect the Internet connection to ensure the safety of your computer.)6. Are USB devices other than DDJ-SZ2 connected?
⇒ Remove external hard disks and the keyboard (for some models), etc. to check the status with only the built-in hard disk.7. If your computer has more than one USB terminal, check using a different USB terminal.
8. Check the sound settings on the computer side
⇒ Go to Troubleshooting > When I start Serato DJ, Serato DJ does not recognize the DDJ-SZ2..Net Number : 61 - Q18 Even though the unit is connected to my computer, only the stereo 1 channel can be used.

1. Before using this unit, you must install the dedicated driver software. For details, see "Installing the driver software" in the operating instructions.
2. The unit and computer must be connected properly. For details, see "Connecting the unit to the computer" in the operating instructions.
If it is still not connected properly, quit the DJ application, disconnect and reconnect the USB cable, and then start the DJ software again.
3. If you have connected the unit and the computer (Windows) using a USB cable before installing the driver software, such symptoms may appear.
This problem can be solved by using the following procedure to reinstall the driver software:1. Connect this unit and the computer using the USB cable.
2. Select [Device Manager] > [Sound Device], and delete "PIONEER DDJ-SZ2".
3. Disconnect the USB cable that connects the computer and the unit.
4. Install the driver software.
*The unit's dedicated driver software is only compatible with Hi-Speed USB.
Check that your computer, USB port and USB cable support Hi-Speed USB.Net Number : 62 - Q19 When I connect the unit to my computer (Windows), a message saying [Installing device driver software] appears. What should I do?

Mac OS X 10.12/10.11/10.10/10.9 32-bit/64-bitNet Number : 64 - Q21 When DJ software is connected, the song information (characters) for MP3 and AAC files, etc. are not displayed correctly.

It is possible that the language of the song information is not supported by the connected DJ software. For information on languages supported by the DJ software, see your DJ software's operating instructions.
Since MP3 and ACC format files support ID3 tags used to embed song information, the artist names and album names can be read and displayed from the files. On the other hand, WAV and AIFF files do not support the ID3 tag, thus artist names and album names cannot be read and displayed from the files. To display song information, you must use the Edit item to edit the song information. With the Import from iTunes function, since the file information held by the iTunes library is referenced, song information is displayed even when included as part of WAV or AIFF files.
Net Number : 69 - Q22 When the Key lock function is on, if the tempo is changed, the audio sounds distorted. Is this a malfunction?

Is the DJ-SZ2 crossfader curve switching control set properly?
When the crossfader curve switching control is set to the leftmost, a sharp rising curve is obtained.You can also adjust the feeling by changing [Adjust crossfader cut lag] in [Utility Mode] of this unit. For details, refer to [Changing Settings], [Utility Mode], and [Adjust crossfader cut lag].
Net Number : 81 - Q24 Sound from the microphone is distorted.

Is a device with a high output level (such as a wireless microphone) connected?
If there is an output level selector switch or gain adjustment on the wireless microphone or similar device, reduce the level of the signal to be input to this unit's microphone jack.
For details, see the operating instructions of the connected device you are using.The standard input level/input impedance of this unit's microphone jack is -52 dBu/8.5 k Ω.
Net Number : 85 - Q25 No sound is output from the headphones.

1. Are the headphones connected to the [PHONES] jack?
Connect the headphones.
2. Is the [LEVEL] control of [HEADPHONES] set to "-∞"?
Adjust the [LEVEL] control.
3. Is the audio [CUE] button for the channel you want to monitor pressed?
Press the audio [CUE] button for the channel you want to monitor.
4. Is the channel level meter for the channel you want to monitor lit? Adjust the TRIM so that the channel level meter lights.
5. Is the sound volume balance of the [MIXING] control appropriate?
If [CUE] of the channel is selected, set the control to the CUE side; if MASTER [CUE] is selected, set it to the MASTER side or to the center.Net Number : 88 - Q26 Even if the DDJ-SZ2 and the computer are connected using a USB after installing the driver software, it is not recognized.

[For Windows]
Check that "DDJ-SZ2" is displayed in the "Sound, Video and Game controller" item in the device manager.
If "?" or "!" is displayed, try the following procedure.1. Right-click the item where "?" or "!" is displayed, and then click "Delete".
2. A confirmation screen is displayed. Click "OK" to delete the item.
If "DDJ-SZ2" is displayed in the "Sound, Video and Game controller" item as well, also delete it using the same procedure.3. Disconnect the DDJ-SZ2 from the computer's USB port.
Do not connect the DDJ-SZ2 via USB until the driver software is reinstalled.4. Uninstall the driver software and restart the computer.
5. Reinstall the driver software and then connect the DDJ-SZ2.
[For Mac]
The driver software may not have been properly installed.
Disconnect the USB cable and uninstall the driver software.
The computer is restarted. Once it has started back up, install the driver software again.Net Number : 89 - Q27 With Windows, after I install the driver software and connect the DDJ-SZ2 and computer via USB, the message "The device driver software was not properly installed" appears.

The driver software may not have been properly installed.
Either change the filename (DDJ-SZ2_x.xxx.exe) of the driver software's installer and install again, or check as described below and then reinstall.1. Disconnect the DDJ-SZ2 from the USB port.
Do not connect the DDJ-SZ2 via USB until the driver software is reinstalled.2. Uninstall the driver software and restart the computer.
3. Right-click the installer file of the driver software and open its properties.
4. Click the "Compatibility" tab and then click "Display the settings of all users".
5. In Compatibility mode, check if the "Run this program in the compatibility mode" check box is selected. If it is selected, deselect the check box and click "OK".
Net Number : 90 - Q28 When I start Serato DJ, Serato DJ does not recognize the DDJ-SZ2.

Reset sound settings.
(1)Connect DDJ-SZ to your computer and turn it power on.
Go [Control Panel] - [Hardware and Sound] and click [Sound]
(2)If PIONEER DJ DDJ-SZ2 has been "Default Device", go to 3.
(3)Choose other sound device rather than PIONEER DDJ-SZ2 and click "Set as Default Device".
Close the window by clicking "OK".
(4)Close the control panel and resart your computer.
[Mac]
Reload Audio MIDI settings.
(1)Connect DDJ-SZ2 to your computer and turn it power on.
(2)Open [Applications] folder, [Utilities] folder and [Audio MIDI Setup.app].
(3)Open [Audio Device] window. Confirm that [Audio MIDI Setup] windows pops up. Click [Window] and choose [Show MIDI Window].
(4)[MIDI Studi] window opens up, click [PIONEER DDJ-SZ2] icon. The icon turns to blue color, click [Remove Device].
"PIONEER DDJ-SZ" icon dissapers and comes back again.
(5)Close [Audio MIDI Setup] and turn DDJ-SZ2 power off.
(6)Turn DDJ-SZ2 power on and run DJ J116Application.
2. The function of “forcefully using the unit as the general MIDI controller” might be activated in the utilities mode on your DDJ-SZ2.
Please launch the utilities mode after removing the USB cable to disconnect your computer from DDJ-SZ2.
Then, if the [KEY LOCK] button on the left deck is lit, please press the [KEY LOCK] button to turn the light off and deactivate the above function.

Since DDJ-SZ supports various inputs, if those settings are not appropriate, sound will not be output.
[Select output audio]
Select the sound source used by each channel.
Select the CH/CH2 input source.
[CD]: Selected when using a line level output device such as a DJ player connected to the [CD] input terminal.
[USB]: Selected when using the Serato DJ software to access tracks loaded on the deck.Select the CH3/CH4 input source.
[LINE]: Selected when using a line level output device such as a DJ player connected to the [LINE] input terminal.
[PHONO]: Selected when using an output device of phono level (for MM cartridge) such as an analog player connected to the [PHONO] input terminal.
[USB]: Selected when using the Serato DJ software to access tracks loaded on the deck.[Output audio]
The following explains how to output audio of Channel 1.
-Output audio from Master Out.
Set the volume of devices (power amplifier, powered speakers, etc.) connected to the [MASTER OUT 1] and [MASTER OUT 2] terminals. If you turn up the volume too loud, use care as sound will be output at full blast.
1. Set each control position of the unit.
[MASTER LEVEL] control: Counterclockwise all the way
Channel 1 [TRIM] control: Counterclockwise all the way
Channel 1 [ISO(HI、MID、LOW] control: Center
Channel 1 Fader: Front side
Channel 1 Crossfader assign selector switch: THRU
2. Play the track
3. Turn the [TRIM] control
Adjust so that the orange indicator on the channel level indicator lights at the peak level.
4. Move the channel fader to the rear side.
5. Turn the [MASTER LEVEL] control to adjust the speaker audio level.-Output audio from the headphones.
1. Set each control position of the unit.
[HEADPHONES LEVEL] control: Counterclockwise all the way
[HEADPHONES MIXING] control: Center
2. Press the headphone [CUE] button of Channel 1
3. Turn the [HEADPHONES LEVEL] control.
