Is the file copyright-protected (DRM)?
Copyright-protected files cannot be played.

Check the following:

1. Are the [MASTER LEVEL] and [TRIM] controls set to the proper positions? Adjust the [MASTER LEVEL] and [TRIM] controls, watching the level meter.
2. Is the audio level being input to the input terminals properly set? Set the audio level input to the respective terminals according to the connected device.
3. Is the [MASTER OUT 1] terminal being used as an unbalanced output with a monaural cable? With an unbalanced output, the sound will be distorted unless the output is set to an appropriate level. Set the output to an appropriate level using the [MASTER LEVEL] control.

When the key lock mode is turned on, key control processing is performed to keep the key constant, so the sound quality changes. This change in sound quality is normal considering the product’s specifications; it is not a malfunction.

Is the DDJ-SX3’s "CROSS FADER CURVE selector switch" set properly?
When the CROSS FADER CURVE switch selects the left end, the curve rises sharply.
With DDJ-SX3, you can adjust the crossfader cut lag in 53 steps in the utility mode. For details, see the operating instructions of DDJ-SX3. You can download the operating instructions from this page.

The characters will be garbled if Shift JIS is used as the ID3 tag's character code.
Only Unicode is supported with this application.

Check the following.
(1) Is the jog dial dirty?
An electrostatic system is used as the detection method in the jog dial of DDJ-SX3. Therefore, if the jog dial is dirty or the user has hand cream on their hands, it may not respond.

When cleaning the jog dial, dry wipe it with a soft cloth. If it is very dirty, prepare a 5:1 or 6:1 solution of water and neutral detergent, immerse a soft cloth in the solution and wring the cloth out well, then clean the jog dial and wipe it with a dry cloth after that.

(2) Is the sensitivity of the jog dial's touch sensor set to the minimum value?
Adjust the sensitivity so that the jog dial responds to touching. For details, see "Adjusting the sensitivity of the jog dial's touch sensor" in the operating instructions.

(3) If the jog dial does not respond to touching even though the jog dial's touch sensor is set to the maximum value, check the following.

-Touch the jog dial while touching anywhere on DDJ-SX3.
If the jog dial does not respond to touching, DDJ-SX3 may have a problem.
If the jog dial responds to touching, DDJ-SX3 may be subject to the influence of connected devices.

-The jog dial’s touch sensor may not work properly depending on the connection environment (ground connection status, etc.) of some computers (e.g. a BTO computer) or amplifiers connected to DDJ-SX3.

Check the following.
-Check by connecting the [Signal GND] terminal of DDJ-SX3 with the GND terminal of the computer or with the [Signal GND] terminal of the amplifier.

Caution
This connection is not a standard method. When you use an analog player, noise may occur.

The slicer function cannot be used with tracks for which no beatgrid is set. For details on setting beatgrids, see the Serato DJ Pro software manual.

When multiple ASIO drivers are installed into a PC, it may take time for the controller to be recognized by Serato DJ Pro.
　　Please uninstall unnecessary ASIO drivers.
　　Please ask the manufacturers of ASIO drivers for details of how to uninstall them.

ASIO driver: A type of driver software which controls sound input and output between a PC and a soundcard (audio interface).

QuickTime of Apple is needed to play the music files in AAC format.
Please install QuickTime into your Mac.
After installing QuickTime, launch Serato DJ Pro and untick "Show iTunes Library" in Library + Display on SETUP window in Serato DJ Pro.
Then, tick it again to start using these files.
Please ensure iTunes is updated to the latest version.

Please ensure [M] (Master output) or [A] (AUX) is selected as the Serato DJ Pro sampler sound output.
Some users reported that [1] (Deck 1) was unintentionally selected as the sampler sound output when they installed Serato DJ Pro for the first time or they updated Serato DJ Pro software.

Is the CROSS FADER ASSIGN (A, THRU, B) selector switch properly set? Set the [CROSS FADER ASSIGN (A, THRU, B)] selector switches for the respective channels properly. If the INPUT selector switches of CH3/4 are set to MICI1/MIC2, the sound does not change even when the crossfader is moved, regardless of the position of the CROSS FADER ASSIGN selector switches.

Is the microphone talk over function on, and is a microphone that is on and connected to DDJ-SX3 placed near a speaker?
When the microphone picks up the speaker sound, the talk over function is activated and make the output sound smaller unexpectedly. Turn off the talk over function or the microphone, or use the microphone away from speakers.

The talk over function may be accidentally activated due to the influence of static electricity, etc. If you do not want to use the talk over function, turn it off.
You can turn on/off the talk over function in the setting utility.

Is the included AC adapter connected properly?
Connect the power plug to the included AC adapter properly.
Is the [STANDBY/ON] switch of the power on?
Turn on the [STANDBY/ON] switch of the power.

DDJ-SX3 may not operate properly due to static electricity or other external influences. In this case, proper operation may be restored by turning the power off, waiting 1 minute, then turning the power back on.

1. The dedicated driver software must be installed before using this unit.
You can download the driver software from this page.

2. This unit and the computer must be connected properly. For details, see "Basic operation" in the operating instructions.
If the computer can not be connected properly, close the DJ software, disconnect the USB cable, then reconnect the USB cable and relaunch the DJ software.

3. Check the sound settings on the computer. Go to the instructions in the following link. You may replace DDJ-1000 with DDJ-SX3 when you go through the steps.
⇒Q. This unit is not recognized.

4. Is the MIDI controller setting of DDJ-SX3 set to "Forcefully use the unit as the general MIDI controller"?
Enter the utilities mode and if the [ROLL Mode] button on the left deck is lit, press the [HOT CUE Mode] button. For details, see "Utilities modes" in the operating instructions.

When the unit is connected to a PC (Windows) for the first time or when it is connected to a different USB port on the PC, the message "Installing device driver software" may appear on the computer screen. Wait until the message "Your devices are ready to use." message appears.

-In the middle of installation, the message "Connect to Windows Update to search for hardware? ] message may appear. In that case, select [No, not this time] and then click [Next] to continue installation.
-In the middle of installation, the message "Choose the installation method" may appear. In that case, select "Install software automatically (recommended)" and then click "Next" to continue installation.
-In the middle of installation, the [Windows Security] screen may appear. In that case, select "Install this driver software." to continue installation.

For Windows
Check that “DDJ-SX3” is displayed in the “Sound, video and game controllers” item in Device Manager.
If “?” or “!” is displayed, try the following procedure.

1. Right-click the item where “?” or “!” is displayed, and then click [Uninstall].

2. The uninstall confirmation dialog box appears. Click OK to perform the uninstallation.
If “DDJ-SX3” is displayed in the “Sound, video and game controllers” item as well, also uninstall it using the same procedure.

3. Disconnect this unit from the USB port of the PC.
　　Do not connect the unit via USB until the driver software is reinstalled.

4. Uninstall the driver software and restart the PC.

5. Reinstall the driver software and then connect the unit.

For Mac
The driver software may not have been installed properly.
Disconnect the USB cable and uninstall the driver software.
The computer is restarted. Once it has been restarted, install the driver software again.

From the Control Panel, check that the account type in "User Account" is "Computer Administrator". You cannot install the device software if it is not "Computer Administrator".

The firmware update is probably not finished. Turn off the power, enter the update mode again, and then perform the update.

Go to [SETUP] menu > [Library + Display] and tick [Show iTunes Library].

If audio is not output or you cannot control rekordbox when using Windows, please see here to solve the problems.

This means the firmware update failed. Please update the firmware again.

The EQ characteristics of Serato DJ Pro and the external input of the DDJ-SX3 are different. This is not a defect.

The external input sound may not send to Serato DJ Pro.
Follow the steps below.
1. Move the input select switch to the [USB A] or [USB B] (where your computer is connected).
2. Move the input select switch back to the [LINE], [PHONO] or [MIC].
Please see "Using effects" in the operating instructions.

For example, if the [DECK1] button is lit, you can operate the effect unit FX1 of your computer connected to the USB terminal that is selected with CH1 INPUT SELECT switch.
Likewise, if the [DECK3] button is lit, you can operate the effect unit FX1 of the computer that is selected with the CH3 INPUT SELECT switch.
When the [DECK2] button is lit, you can operate the effect unit FX2 of the computer connected to the USB terminal that is selected with CH2 INPUT SELECT switch.
Likewise, if the [DECK4] button is lit, you can operate the effect unit FX2 of the computer that is selected with the CH4 INPUT SELECT switch.
