Titles: 63 characters, album names: 63 characters, artist names: 63 characters, genre names: 63 charactersNet Number : 30 - Q2 What sort of function is "library"?
-
A2
1. When a library is created using "rekordbox", an application included with the CDJ-900, library browsing with the CDJ-900 is possible. Library browsing is a function for selecting and searching for tracks by category (ALBUM, ARTIST, TRACK, PLAYLIST, HISTORY, and many others) specified in rekordbox.
2. In addition to the above, selecting and searching for tracks is also possible with libraries created using the MEP-7000 Library Editor (a piece of software for creating libraries specifically for the MEP-7000).Net Number : 31 - Q3 What is the resume function?
-
A3
A function for resuming playback from the same point if playback is restarted immediately after ejecting the disc or stopping playback.
Net Number : 41 - Q4 What is the range in which the tempo can be changed?
-
A4
When switched to the wide mode, the tempo can be changed by ±100%.
Net Number : 42 - Q5 What is the super fast search function?
-
A5
A function allowing searching at higher speeds than normal forward and reverse searching with the search buttons.
Net Number : 43 - Q6 How many cue/loop points can be stored in the memory?
-
A6
For discs, 100 points per disc can be stored in the USB memory device connected simultaneously. For music files stored on USB storage devices, the points are stored on the storage device itself (up to 10 points per file, with no limit to the number of files).
Net Number : 44 - Q7 When a LOOP is set with quantizing on, the loop in point is off.
-
A7
This happens if the beat position specified with the quantizing function and the timing at which the LOOP OUT button is pressed is off. When using the real-time loop function, turn quantizing off.
For auto beat loops, the quantizing function can be left on.Net Number : 46 - Q8 I have adjusted LOOP END to the short side and am using this as an effect, but the sound is different from the CDJ-1000MK3.
-
A8
Sound is produced in units of 1 frame on the CDJ-1000MK3 but in units of 0.5 frames on the CDJ-900, so the sound is different.
Net Number : 50 - Q9 Is it possible to record cue and loop points on an external USB hard disk in the same way as on a USB flash memory?
-
A9
For tracks on a hard disk, points are recorded on the hard disk.
Net Number : 53 - Q10 What is the order in which music files recorded on USB storage devices are played (including cases in which there is a folder structure and files of different formats)?
-
A10
The files are not played in the order in which they were recorded on the USB storage device. Playback starts when a track is selected by the user when browsing. Once playback of that track has ended, the other files in that category are played in order through to the last track.
Net Number : 54 - Q11 Can analog and digital audio signals be output simultaneously?
-
A11
Yes they can.
Net Number : 55 - Q12 Is relay play possible when a Pioneer DJ player allowing relay playback is connected to the CDJ-900? Also, is the fader start function possible with a compatible Pioneer DJM mixer?
-
A12
Yes, both the relay play and fader start functions are possible.
Net Number : 57 - Q13 Can you explain very simply what the browsing function is?
-
A13
Browsing is a function for searching for specific tracks within a large library.
Net Number : 59 - Q14 What is the folder browsing function? And what about library browsing?
-
A14
Folder browsing is a function for selecting tracks among folder and file names. Library browsing is a function allowing you to display and select tracks by category created in rekordbox or by sorted order. For instructions on creating categories in rekordbox, see rekordbox's operating instructions.
Net Number : 60 - Q15 It seems that there are browsing operations that can be performed on both USB storage devices and on discs, others that can only be performed on one or the other. Just what can be done with USB storage devices and what can be done with discs?
-
A15
For USB storage devices, in addition to folder browsing, if a library is created ahead of time with rekordbox, library browsing is also possible on the CDJ. With library browsing it is possible to select or search for tracks by displaying the category specified for the tracks in rekordbox (ALBUM, ARTIST, TRACK, PLAYLIST, HISTORY, etc.). With discs, only folder browsing is possible.
Net Number : 61 - Q16 Does the CDJ-900 support DVD-R playback?
-
A16
No, only the CDJ-2000 (and MEP-7000,DVJ-1000) supports DVD data discs.
Net Number : 63 - Q17 What is "Slip" mode?
-
A17
When you engage slip mode, using the player to loop, scratch or reverse will maintain the realtime play position of the audio as if you had never entered those modes. In other words, if you were to create a loop of "1, 2, 3, 4" and loop it once, while the loop is playing, you don't hear the song progressing through "5, 6, 7, 8", and when you exit the loop, the next thing you hear is "9, 10, 11, 12".
Net Number : 64 - Q18 Does the CDJ900 display have a waveform?
-
A18
It most certainly does!
Net Number : 65 - Q19 How can I tell where the current play position is on the waveform?
-
A19
There is a dot below the waveform and the current vertical bar of the waveform blinks to show the current position, but the waveform lines up above the playback position indicator in the lower display for a quick approximation.
Net Number : 66 - Q20 Can the angled screen be moved up or down?
-
A20
No, the screen is in a fixed position.
Net Number : 67 - Q21 Is the display a touch-screen?
-
A21
No. You'd have to show even less information on the display (larger items) for the touch to be accurate, especially after the DJ has had a few drinks. The rotary knob and the strip make it easy to locate tracks.
Net Number : 68 - Q22 What is the half-frame feature and how does it work?
-
A22
CD-audio breaks every second down into 75 frames. This can cause for imperfect loops when the peaks and valleys of the waveform don't line up or the loop is simply too long or too short for a perfect number of frames for that tempo. Pioneer has developed a method of interpolation to allow for half-frame timing. This effectively breaks every second into 148 pieces allowing for smoother and more precice loops to be created. The half frames are shown in the display as .5 and the half-frame feature is available for all audio sources, not just CD-audio.
Net Number : 69 - Q23 How does the player history work?
-
A23
The player automatically creates a history list of all the songs you play and allows you to import that playlist into rekordbox. You can then review the track list from that session or you can edit the playlist and re-order tracks to play them again in the future.
Net Number : 70 - Q24 When there are many tracks, how fast can the BROWSE display section be scrolled?
-
A24
The rotary selector has an acceleration mode function. When turned slowly, one track is displayed at a time. When turned quickly, tracks are skipped while scrolling. The number of tracks skipped depends on the speed at which the rotating section is turned. When the rotary selector is pressed for several seconds, the jump mode is set, allowing several thousands of files to be browsed quickly.
Net Number : 71 - Q25 No FLAC support?
-
A25
Sorry, I wish it did too!
Net Number : 72 - Q26 Are m3u playlists supported?
-
A26
They are not supported on the CDJ itself, but they are supported in rekordbox.
Net Number : 73 - Q27 How can I select tracks quickly from among large amounts of track data?
-
A27
There is a function for sorting tracks by category.
Tracks can also be sorted by searching for keywords.Net Number : 74 - Q28 Can the software create autobeat loops?
-
A28
There are currently four buttons allowing for 4, 8, 16 or 32 beat loops to be created automatically. Manual loops are created the same way as on a CDJ, or you can enable the quantizing system which assists in snapping the loops to the beat.
Net Number : 80 - Q29 Can playlists be created and edited on the CDJ itself?
-
A29
Create playlists using rekordbox. The CDJ does have a function for creating taglists, which are like temporary playlists.
Net Number : 81 - Q30 When a track analyzed with rekordbox is played on the CDJ, the quantize function does not turn on.
-
A30
1. At the CDJ's UTILITY menu, set QUANTIZE to "ON".
2. At the rekordbox [Information] pane, set the "Enable Quantize on CDJ" item to "ON".Net Number : 84 - Q31 I created a library in rekordbox, but library browsing on the CDJ is not possible (folder browsing is possible).
-
A31
Writing onto the USB memory is required to use the library browsing function. Because of this, if the LOCK switch of the USB memory is set to "ON", operation automatically switches to folder browsing.
Use the USB memory with the LOCK switch set to "OFF".Net Number : 85 - Q32 What has changed with New firmware?
-
A32
For a description of the changes, see the Pioneer DJ support page.
Check the update history on the firmware download page.Net Number : 94 - Q33 What are the differences between the [QUANTIZED BEAT LOOP] and [AUTO BEAT LOOP] functions?
-
A33
With [QUANTIZED BEAT LOOP], the loop changes to the number of beats set after first setting the number of beats, playing to the next beat, then returning to the loop in point. With the [AUTO BEAT LOOP] function, when the [AUTO BEAT LOOP] button is pressed, playback returns immediately to the loop in point and the loop changes to the set number of beats.
