FAQ
- Q1 Can signals be output simultaneously from the MASTER, MIDI and BOOTH outputs?
-
A1
Yes.
Net Number : 15 - Q2 What should I set the master level indicator in order to output a voltage of 2V? Also, is the [MASTER ATT] control related to the master level indicator?
-
A2
When [MASTER ATT] is set to 0 dB, the MASTER 1 output (XLR) is 2 Vrms when the master level indicator is at 2 dB, and the MASTER 2 output (PIN) is 2 Vrms when the master level indicator is at about +8 dB (not indicated on the scale).
Lowering the [MASTER ATT] control does not change the way the master level indicator lights.Net Number : 16 - Q3 I think that basically I should use the unit with the TRIM control set so that the channel level indicator lights to a maximum of 0 dB, so why does the indicator go up to +10 dB? Also, at about what decibel level does the output sound start getting distorted?
-
A3
With most mixers, 0 dB is the basic standard, but for this unit we have provided a channel level indicator going up to +10 dB in consideration of usage in a variety of environments. Furthermore, headroom of +19 dB is provided through internal processing, so the sound will not necessarily be distorted even if “OVER” lights. However, this unit is equipped with effects that cause the volume to increase, so we recommend adjusting the level in such a way that ”OVER” does not light.
Net Number : 17 - Q4 I have connected an effector to the SEND/RETURN terminals, but I cannot create echoes with the fader. Why is this?
-
A4
Echoes cannot be created when the SEND/RETURN terminals’ effect channels are set to the respective channels. They can be created when the effect channel is set to crossfader A, crossfader B or the master channel.
Net Number : 18 - Q5 What is “headroom”?
-
A5
Headroom indicates the maximum level of input signal that can be handled without distortion, the amount of leeway. Normally it is expressed in decibels. The higher this value, the greater the resistance to excessive inputs and the less the tendency for distortion.
Net Number : 94 - Q6 How do I cancel the auto standby function?
-
A6
In the [CLUB SETUP] mode, change the Auto Standby setting to “OFF”. To display the [CLUB SETUP] mode settings screen, turn this unit's power off, then press the [POWER] button while pressing the [ON/OFF (UTILITY)] button. For details, see "Changing the Settings – About the Auto Standby Function" in the operating instructions.
Net Number : 95 - Q7 There are three types of volume adjustments, with the TRIM, channel fader and MASTER LEVEL controls. What is the difference between them?
-
A7
TRIM
This adjusts the audio level input to the respective channels.Channel fader
This adjusts the audio level output from the respective channels.MASTER LEVEL
This adjusts the audio level output from the [MASTER1] and [MASTER2] terminals.Net Number : 96 - Q8 Does this mixer have Fader Start function?
-
A8
Yes, it does. When this mixer is connected to a computer, where Serato DJ is running, via a USB cable, the fader on this mixer can control to fade in and out a track on Serato DJ. Please connect this mixer to a computer where Serato DJ is running in advance. Also, Fader Start function is available when this mixer is connected to CDJ via PRO DJ LINK. Please use CDJ-2000nexus, CDJ-2000 or CDJ-900 supporting PRO DJ LINK combined with this mixer. Ensure that the firmware of CDJ is updated to the latest version for using PRO DJ LINK. The latest firmware is available from the support page.
This mixer does not have an input for a control cable.Net Number : 97 - Q9 Can I record DJ performances?
-
A9
Yes. Recording is possible using the DJ software's recording function. Input this unit’s output sound (digital) to the DJ software on the computer via USB cable. (USB sound card function)
When using Serato DJ, see the “Serato DJ Software Manual”. When using DJ software other than Serato DJ, see "Changing the Settings” – “About the Settings Utility” in the operating instructions and make the settings for outputting sound from this unit. For the settings on the DJ software, see your DJ software's operating instructions.
It is also possible to record by connecting REC OUT terminals to a recording device equipped with analog input terminals. The “Serato DJ Software Manual” can be acquired from the Serato website.
http://serato.com/Net Number : 98 - Q10 Do the MIDI connection specifications support DIN terminals?
-
A10
No. MIDI signals are input and output through the USB port.
Net Number : 129 - Q11 What are the tempo range where I can adjust?
-
A11
In INT mode, the tempo range can be selected from one of the following: ±8%, ±16% and ±50% on Serato DJ.
Net Number : 130 - Q12 Does the DJM-900SRT support restarting from the computer's standby and sleep modes?
-
A12
Operation is not guaranteed when the computer has been restarted from the standby or sleep mode.
Net Number : 136 - Q13 How should I adjust the buffer size?
-
A13
The latency (the time from which the DJM-900SRT is operated until the sound is output) can be shortened by lowering the buffer size setting. If there are interruptions in the sound, increase the buffer size, but note that this makes the latency longer. Set the buffer size to the minimum value at which no interruptions in the sound occur.
For Windows:
When using Serato DJ, click the [LAUNCH DRIVER PANEL] button of USB BUFFERSIZE(LATENCY) at [SETUP] > [AUDIO] and adjust the BUFFER SIZE on the [ASIO] tab of the Settings Utility.
When using Serato DJ, adjust USB BUFFERSIZE at [SETUP] > [AUDIO]. When using DJ software other than Serato DJ and when using an ASIO driver, adjust the buffer size at the [ASIO] tab of the Settings Utility. When using Direct Sound, adjust the buffer size from the DJ software.
For Mac OS:
When using Serato DJ, adjust USB BUFFER SIZE at [SETUP] > [AUDIO]. When using DJ software other than Serato DJ, adjust the buffer size from the DJ software.Net Number : 144 - Q14 Is there a MIDI table?
-
A14
Yes.
See “MIDI Assignment Map” in the operating instructions.
