FAQ
- Q1 Can I use a stereo microphone?
-
A1
Stereo microphones are not supported. Use a monaural microphone.
Net Number : 25 - Q2 Can signals be output simultaneously from the MASTER, MIDI and BOOTH outputs?
-
A2
Yes.
Net Number : 26 - Q3 How do I cancel the auto standby function?
-
A3
The CLUB SETUP mode is set when the power is turned on while pressing the SETUP (WAKE UP) button. Auto standby can be turned off while in the CLUB SETUP mode. For details, see “Changing the settings – About the auto standby function” in the operating instructions.
Net Number : 27 - Q4 What should the master level indicator be set to in order to output 2V? Also, is [MASTER ATT] related to the master level indicator?
-
A4
When [MASTER ATT] is set to 0 dB, the MASTER1 output (XLR) is 2Vrms when the master level indicator is at 4 dB, and the MASTER2 output (PIN) is 2Vrms when the master level indicator is at about 8 dB (off the scale). The movement of the master level indicator is at about +8 dB (off the scale). The movement of the master level indicator does not change when [MASTER ATT] is turned down.
Net Number : 28 - Q5 I think that generally speaking the TRIM control should be adjusted watching the channel level indicator for a maximum indication of about 0 dB. Why does the indicator go up to +10 dB? From what dB setting does the output sound begin to distort?
-
A5
Generally 0 dB is the reference value for the mixer, but considering usage in many different environments, this unit's channel level indicator goes up to +10 dB. Furthermore, headroom of +19 dB is provided with internal processing, so the sound is not necessarily distorted even when "OVER" lights. However, this unit is equipped with effects that raise the volume, so we recommend adjusting the TRIM control to a level at which "OVER" does not light.
Net Number : 29 - Q6 There are three types of volume adjustments, with the GAIN (TRIM), channel fader and MAIN VOL (MASTER LEVEL) controls. What is the difference between them?
-
A6
GAIN
This adjusts the audio level input from external devices to the respective decks. Depending on the MAIN VOL value, sound may be output even if GAIN is turned all the way down.Channel fader
These adjust the audio level output from the respective decks for mixing.MAIN VOL
This adjusts the audio level output from this unit to external devices.Net Number : 30 - Q7 I have connected the effecter to the SEND/RETURN terminals, but cannot achieve an echo retaining effect with the fader. Why is this?
-
A7
The echo retaining effect cannot be achieved when the SEND/RETURN terminals' effect channel is set to the respective channels. An echo retaining effect can be achieved by setting the effect channel to crossfader A, crossfader B or master.
Net Number : 31 - Q8 Can I record DJ performances?
-
A8
Yes, by using the DJ software’s recording function.
Input the (digital) sound output from the DJM-850 to the DJ software on the computer. (USB sound card function)
For details on setting the sound output from the DJM-850, see “About the driver software and setting utility software” – “About the setting utility software” in the operating instructions. For the settings in the DJ software, see the DJ software’s operating instructions.
The sound can also be recorded by connecting the REC OUT terminals to a recorder equipped with analog input terminals.Net Number : 32 - Q9 What is headroom?
-
A9
Headroom indicates the maximum level at which input signals can be handled without distortion. Generally it is expressed in decibels. The higher this value, the greater the capacity to handle excessive inputs and the lower the tendency for distortion.
