Operation is possible. When using DDJ-SX2, pay attention to the following points.
(1) DDJ-SX2 automatically switches to the "mode optimized to Serato DJ" when Serato DJ is running and to the "general purpose MIDI controller mode" when Serato DJ is not running. Furthermore, the general purpose MIDI controller mode can be forcibly set in the utilities mode, regardless of whether or not Serato DJ is running. For details, see "Forcefully using the unit as the general MIDI controller" of the operating instructions.
(2) In order to operate the MIDI-compatible DJ software with DDJ-SX2, the various operating interfaces of DDJ-SX2 must be assigned to the various functions of the DJ software.

TRIM: Adjusts the level of the sound input to the respective channels from the deck of the DJ application or external device.
CHANNEL FADER: Adjusts the level of sound output from the respective channels for mixing.
MASTER LEVEL: Adjusts the level of sound output from DDJ-SX2 to an external device.Examples of use
1. Play tracks.
2. Move the channel fader away from you.
3. Adjust TRIM so that the orange indicator on the channel level indicator lights at the peak level.

It depends on when you purchased the tracks. If you purchased the tracks before February 22, 2012, they cannot be played because DRM is applied. If you purchased the tracks on or after February 22, 2012, they can be played because DRM is not applied.

Yes, it is possible. Operate Serato DJ as described below.
1. Click the [REC] icon on the upper left of the screen to open the [REC] panel.
2. Click the [REC] button in the [REC] panel to start recording.
To end recording, click the [REC] button once again.
3. Enter the file name in the text field and click the [Save] button to save the recording results.For details, see "RECORDING" in the Serato DJ Software Manual.

By lowering the buffer size setting, the latency (the period from when DDJ-SX2 is operated until the sound is output) can be shortened. If there are interruptions in the sound, increase the buffer size, but note that this makes the latency longer. Set the buffer size to the minimum value at which no interruptions in the sound occur.
For Mac users
The buffer size can be adjusted in SETUP of Serato DJ.For Windows users
Click the Audio tab in SETUP of Serato DJ and then click the [LAUNCH DRIVER PANEL] button to display the ASIO settings utility screen. On this screen, you can set the buffer size and kernel buffer size.
Follow the procedure below to set the buffer size to the minimum value at which no interruptions in the sound occur.
Check that no interruptions in the sound occur with the default setting (buffer size: 256 samples).[When no interruptions in the sound occur at the default setting]
1. Start [DDJ_SX2 ASIO Settings Utility] and set the buffer size to the minimum value at which no interruptions in the sound occur.
2. Then change the value to [2] in [Kernel Buffer Size] and check that no interruptions in the sound occur.
3. If no interruptions in the sound occur, set the buffer size to the minimum value at which no interruptions in the sound occur. If interruptions in the sound occur, change the value to [3] in [Kernel Buffer Size].[When interruptions in the sound occur with the default setting]
1. Start [DDJ_SX2 ASIO Settings Utility] and change the value to [4] in [Kernel Buffer Size].

There is compatibility between the Serato Scratch Live and Serato DJ databases, so those who previously used Serato Scratch Live can continue to use their crates, cue/loop points, etc.
If you purchase Serato DVS Expansion Packs separately, you can use DVS on decks A and B with Serato DJ. For instructions on using DVS or other information, see the support page.

1) Download the update file from Pioneer's support site.
2) Unzip the downloaded file (some browsers will automatically unzip the file).

5) Double-click the file unzipped in 2).

Yes. When DDJ-SX2 and the computer are connected and a track is played in iTunes, the sound is input to the DDJ-SX2's channel 1. It cannot be input to other channels. Also, files containing DRM data cannot be played.
If sound is not input when the above operation is performed, do the following.
Windows 7
Display the [Run] dialog box from the [Start Menu], enter [mmsys.cpl], and then click [OK]. The [Sound] window opens. Select "PIONEER DDJ-SX2" on the [Playback] tab of the [Sound] window.
